HMS Abdiel N21 Abdiel Class Minelayer 1967 to 1988 Photo Print
HMS Abdiel (N21), an Abdiel Class minelayer, moves through calm water close under a range of low hills in this black and white photograph, seen from off her port bow with her pennant number painted large on the hull. A line of sailors stands on the forecastle, the White Ensign flies at the stern and her tall, strut-braced mast carries its radar aerial high above the bridge. The exact date and place are not recorded; the print dates from her service between 1967 and 1988.
Abdiel was built by John I. Thornycroft at Woolston, Southampton, launched in January 1967 and commissioned in October that year as the only ship of her class. She took her name from the fast minelayer of the Second World War, which was lost at Taranto in 1943, and ultimately from the loyal seraph in Milton's Paradise Lost. Her open after deck with its rails and gantry was laid out for stowing and dropping mines over the stern.

Framing & Mounting
We provide a bright white mount as standard. If you prefer an alternative colour, please contact us. Depending on the print's size and orientation, we may occasionally need to adjust the mount's size or shape to ensure the best presentation.
Our frame selection is extensive, and due to website limitations not every style can be listed. If you have a particular colour or design in mind, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss available options.
The final frame size and proportions may vary slightly based on the image ratio. Occasionally, frames may need to be a little taller or wider than the chosen size; however, they will never be smaller than the specified dimensions.
